3-26 ...If we could look at making East and Denfeld both 10-12 high schools with
six period days, we could handle the present high school population with a higher degree of safety and security....
3-27 ...Instead of a "one-size-fits-all" model, parents should be given the
opportunity to choose the educational setting that they believe will work best for their
children...
3-27 ...With
all due respect, this doesn't
sound like someone proposing Central as one of the remaining two high schools.
Could you please explain these seemingly conflicting standpoints?...
3-27 ...I do support the proposal of a two high school system! I grew
up in Bloomington with first three and then two high schools....
3-28 I am confused and concerned about the addition to the proposal of a 2 high
school system at this point of planning for next year. I get the impression that this might happen next year and feel this is moving waaaaaay too fast.
3-28 ...many people believe Proposal A is the plan, while others believe Proposal B is the plan. I distinctly heard a board member say that neither proposal is The Plan until it has been voted upon and approved by the school board. In other words, no one really knows what is going on!
3-29 ... I'm asking you to urge other board
members to hold off on the boundary changes until you are all sure just how many high schools we will have in the
future...
3-30 ...First off, it appears to me that the reaction on the part of some parents
and students to not having the extra electives is overblown. I asked a friend of mine who has a child at East whether this is a real issue to most
kids and he responded by saying his daughter said "no"....
3-30 ...Once again, this community fails to make the tough call. This district, I believe, will never get to a point of
tranquillity...
3-30 ...I have a few
comments:
1) Yes, Anne Bretts' ideas are silly, silly, silly. I am also disappointed that
the DNT gave her a forum. Will every goofy idea appear on the opinion page? At
first I thought she was attempting satire or sarcasm, but evidently she was
serious. What a nut. Now who's being abrasive?...
3-31 ...I am writing to thank you for your decision to keep the seven-period
school day....
4-1 ...
4-2 ...
4-4 ...I am a parent with two kids at
Central, and a son who is starting kindergarten in the fall. I have no clue where he is going, and it's very
upsetting....
4-6 ...Harry,
At the Board meeting on the 28th I watched you very carefully. I really
got a feeling of your sincerity and frustration over the financial crisis we face in the
district...
4-9 ...I decided to use this topic for a
final paper in my Composition II class. I would like to send you some questions to answer; a kind of on-line
interview....
4-16 ...we do not get sick leave, we do not receive benefits of any kind and we coordinate the thousands of parent volunteer hours that are donated every week in the schools in Duluth. WE ARE THE BEST BARGIN IN THE DULUTH SCHOOL
SYSTEM....
4-25...I received a copy of the Proposed CAB Cuts for FY 2002 that is included
in your board packet for the meeting tomorrow, April 26. After reviewing the proposal, I feel that it is misleading and would like to
share my findings with you for your consideration...
4-26...After attending tonight’s Board meeting, I find myself
puzzled about the Board’s 7-2 vote to set “parameters” for the public input process presented by Kap Wilkes
and Karen Schuder...
4-27 ...I think it's time to close one of the high
schools in Duluth. ... In the next school board election, my husband and I will be looking for candidates that are willing to make the move to 2 high schools. We will support those
candidates with our votes, with editorials, and in any other way we
can...
5-17.... While the two high concept merits discussion I can not accept your proposal for the following reasons: and My reply.
6-6...I have been following the discussions on your website for some time now.
While I can understand some of the objections that have been raised
regarding your "Zenith Plan," it seems to me to be the most sensible plan
presently on the table.
