Letters to the Editor 1999 Part of any campaign is getting ideas out to the public. I view letters to the editor as a good but flawed tool to do this. For one thing lots of people avoid reading the letters like the plague. For another most newspapers limit the space available for such letters. The Duluth News Tribune has a 250 word limit. Also the Tribune will edit letters for "clarity." They did this to my most recent letter supporing Mary Cameron and bashing the DFL and then had to print a correction of their editing. My letter on Mary Cameron and the Tribune's correction. Margo Dallos bashes Harry Welty and Harry Welty's reply
