Selling by means of Snow 2005

An acquaintance in the advertising business asked me to make two rather pedestrian snow sculptures for ads he was shooting for clients. The first was an igloo the second a garage. I include pictures of both. The second one the garage being geometric gave me a chance to answer a question I've often speculated about. How much does a snow sculpture weigh? Now I have a better idea.

Igloo

This is not how an Eskimo would have made an igloo. Here's how the real things are made. I just made a pile of snow and carved it into an igloo shape and then cut fake lines in for snow blocks. Then I dug a tunnel into it big enough for two guys to crawl out of for the commercial.
