Snow sculptures 2011-12
Attacking a Giant
I had completely forgoten what I'd made last year when I decided to find out in
my photo files to update this website record. OH YEAH! I was going to run for
Congress and I thought it would be fun to sculpt something that symbolized my
long impossible political soujourn. Who better to reflect this history than the
Man from LaMancha, Good old Don Quixote..
There was no snow to speak of until March. A first snowfall gave me enough for
the windmill which a grandson helpfully knocked off one blade from. By the time
the Don showed up it was too warm to sculpt anything delicate. It would have
melted over night so no long slender horse's legs. Also I spent a week trying to
freeze a trough of water into a lance. It never got cold enough at night so I
cheated and used a length of pcb pipe.
