Dear Sirs/Madams,

My Mother and I have reconciled since the events described in the enclosed story. She is a graduate of the Minnesota Academy of Art and Design and I am the town's local crank.
It dawned on me that we were perfectly matched to turn the story into a book after I told the story to my children and they fell off our sofa laughing. I have talked my Mother into painting a couple panels for my proposed book facsimiles of which I have also enclosed. She would paint more if I found a publisher interested in the commercial aspects of this politically incorrect reminiscence.

    Your humble servant,

    Harry Welty

I made my poor Mom come up with 12 pages worth of illustrations before I decided that this wasn't a commercially viable project. Its one of the few decision I will always second guess. Putting them all together here on the web makes it all the more plain what I good thing I got my Mother started on.
